Transport Security Techniques

This introductory course on screening techniques can either be tailored to meet the needs of new recruits to the security force or be presented as an informative programme for non-security personnel who need to understand screening processes.

We examine traditional techniques such as passenger and baggage screening processes, including the ways in which technology can enhance the security infrastructure. We emphasise the importance of "common sense security" and, in this respect, we look at the limitations of each security technology whilst giving considerable attention to the importance of human factors through an examination of passenger behavioural analysis.

Aside from passenger screening processes, such as baggage X-ray and body search, we consider the whole gambit of airport and seaport security issues including access control, ID issuance, perimeter security, cargo security, checkpoint operations and terminal surveillance.
